Viddler
Friday, April 9th, 2010What is this, and What is it good for?!
Step 2:
Once you’ve created your Viddler account, it’s time to sign-in and get to work.
Find the “Videos” button on the top of the page, when your pointer hovers over the button you’ll see a drop down menu.
Select “Record.”
Step 3:
Viddler works by using a plug-in (a program that works with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.) that communicates with your computer. Before it can use your webcam, you have to give it permission… you know, the thing you wish your sister or brother would ask for before they borrow your stuff.
Click “Allow”
Step 4:
Make sure that the audio selected is “Built-In Micraphone”
Select a video quality that is Medium or High
Click that red button to record your video.
You might want wait 2-4 seconds before you start talking, just to make sure the video is rolling.
Click that red button again to stop recording your video.
DON’T FORGET TO SAVE!
(Please note that making faces at your camera is optional)
Extra Credit:
You can embed the video you’ve just made on any website that will allow you to edit the HTML. For example, you can add this video to a google site, to a blog, or to a blackboard page just to name a few. To do this:
From the page with your video grab the “embed” code.
It should look something like this:
<object id=’stV0lVRk1IR19bQV1UWVhcUV5T’ width=’425′ height=’344′ type=’application/x-shockwave-flash’ data=’http://www.screentoaster.com/swf/STPlayer.swf’ codebase=’http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,115,0′><param name=’movie’ value=’http://www.screentoaster.com/swf/STPlayer.swf’/><param name=’allowFullScreen’ value=’true’/><param name=’allowScriptAccess’ value=’always’/><param name=’flashvars’ value=’video=stV0lVRk1IR19bQV1UWVhcUV5T’/></object><div style=’width: 425px; text-align: right;’><a href=’http://www.screentoaster.com/’>Capture your screen in seconds</a></div>
(Even though it looks scary, it’s really not… or is it)
When you Edit a google sites page, you’ll click on “HTML
Paste that crazy long code into the page, and click “update.”
Then click “Save”
TaDa you’re done.
